April 2002 - present: Contracted to Xerox Business Services at the primary print shop supporting Microsoft's Redmond, WA campus. Primarily support the Bindery department with all document finishing operations (cutting, binding, laminating, and other necessary finishing work), with occasional work on one of five DocuTech 6180's or a DocuColor 2060.

July 2001 - April 2002: Contracted to Xerox Business Services supervising a private print shop for Arthur Andersen, LLP. Provided operation and support for various Xerox copiers (one 5800, multiple 265, 255, 435 and 420 machines) througout the Andersen offices. As the sole print shop staffer, am responsible for all requested print jobs, inventory, and production number billing reports at the end of each month.

GCI - March 2001 - June 2001 Customer Care Representative 1

Worked within the NOCC (Network Operations Control Center) Call Center ensuring that all customer voice and data problems were resolved in a timely manner. Also notified customers of upcoming maintenance and service issues that could impact provided services. Additional duties between calls included daily reports of all open tickets, working with other companies to resolve non-technical problems, and e-mailed communications with technicians to ensure all open tickets were kept up to date. Required good telephone, computer, and customer relations skills.

Frequent computer work with Macintosh, IBM-compatible (IBM/MS DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98, and NT 4.0), UNIX, and Xerox proprietary operating systems involved in preparing and transferring files to the DocuTech. Responsible for designing and maintaining a custom FileMaker Pro database tracking archived customer jobs. Assisted with a major redesign of the company website in both the planning and coding stages.

As Key-Op and Docutech Operator, familiarity with each machine in the store, including Kodak CLC 700, Xerox 3050, 5100, 5775 CLC, 5090, and Docutech 135. Responsible for knowledge of the operation and maintenance of each machine, including clearing jams, cleaning internal mechanisms as necessary, standard copying and programming complex jobs where applicable.

As Counter & Register support, responsible for most direct customer service operations, including greeting customers, taking in job orders, and handling financial transactions for the finished jobs.

Provided Computer Services support on both Macintosh and IBM computers during hours when the CS staff was not available. Also assisted with troubleshooting any problems with the Macintosh computers when necessary, and assisted with typesetting jobs after CS hours when necessary.

Designed and edited layouts for award-winning high school yearbook, supervised layout department staff. Required familiarity with Macintosh computers and standard layout/design applications, including Microsoft Word, Aldus Pagemaker 5.0.

I currently have a typing speed of approximately 80 WPM at about 95% accuracy.

Extensive familiarity and knowledge of Apple Macintosh computers and applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and FileMaker Pro, among others. Limited experience with Adobe InDesign and Quark Xpress. Familiar with MacOS systems from 6.0.7 through Mac OS X.

Familiar with basic operations of IBM compatible computers and most applications, including MS-DOS, MS Windows 3.11, MS Windows 95/98/2000, MS Windows NT 4.0, and Microsoft Word, among others. Limited familiarity with WordPerfect 5 and 6, for DOS and Windows.

Some experience with various flavors of UNIX, including Darwin (the kernel for Mac OS X, based on BSD 4), FreeBSD, SCO, and MachTen.

Familiar with the use and programming of HTML documents for display on the World Wide Web. Most comfortable creating HTML by hand, using text processors such as BBEdit or vi. Gaining familiarity with webserver-oriented skills, including basic UNIX system maintenance, Apache administration, and simple CGI scripting and troubleshooting.

Interests

Computers: I have been using computers on a regular basis since approximately 1983, and currently own a Revision A iMac (running Mac OS X, and acting as my webserver), a blue and white PowerMacintosh G3 (dual-booting Mac OS 9.1 and Mac OS X), and a cobbled together PC (running Windows 2000 Professional). While most familiar with the Apple Macintosh line of computers, I have basic knowledge of IBM clones, and have had some experience with most operating systems, including the MacOS, Windows (3.1 - 98 and NT 4), DOS (both MS and IBM), *NIX, DEC VAX systems, and CP/M.

I have been active on the Internet since approximately 1991, first through a student account at the University of Alaska Anchorage, currently through a local commercial service provider. I am knowledgeable in use of the Internet's main functions both through text-based terminals and through the web. I also design and maintain my own personal site on the WWW, and until the closing of the club in August of 1998 was webmaster for Gig's Music Theatre.
