  1. A ghost closing his mouth after a long summer’s yawn October 31, 2001

One of the few slight bummers about this past weekend was that I missed Jason’s Halloween show. Having only seen him perform a couple times at Bumbershoot, I’m really hoping to be able to catch one of his shows sometime, but just had too much going on this weekend to be able to do it. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before I get a chance I can take.

  3. Quotes: OS X, iPod October 29, 2001

The iPod certainly got a lot of attention when I showed it to people, including a Windows guy named Bill Gates. He spun the wheel, checked out the menus on the display screen and seemed to get it immediately. ‘It looks like a great product,’ he said. And then he added, incredulous, ‘It’s only for Macintosh?’

  4. One very cool weekend October 29, 2001

Apparently I have a second cousin who had a meeting scheduled in the World Trade Center on September 11th. He had to duck a fair amount of falling masonry and other debris, but he managed to get out of the area, and is apparently doing well.

  5. Britney Spears sheds ‘innocent’ image, releases new album swearing like a sailor! October 26, 2001

When I say ‘hell’ and ‘damn,’ I say it out of frustration in my songs. It’s not, like, a normal term of endearment that I use all the time.

  6. Job frustrations October 25, 2001

6/17/05: My lord…Microsoft canned me for a photo, but this post slipped right by Xerox? I got really lucky. In retrospect, a really stupid thing to post publicly.

  7. O Brother, Where Art Thou? October 25, 2001

Incidentally, now I’m going to have to find Down from the Mountain’, which apparently is available both on CD and DVD. Hmmm…Christmas is coming up pretty soon…

If I can’t make first contact with a group of humans…I don’t deserve to be on this ship.

  9. Wild phlebotomists loose in the building! October 24, 2001

Downsides to having a tattoo barely a year old — from what I understand, I can’t give blood for another year. I’m sure they’ll be fine, though, they had willing volunteers in the chairs already.

  10. For a wonderfully surreal time October 24, 2001

…pop in the new Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD, set the audio track to French (or maybe just mute it if you actually speak French), and turn on the ‘subtitles for people who hate the film.’

  11. Another week begins October 22, 2001

Been a busy morning so far, but I figured I’d grab a couple minutes to babble away for a bit. I ended up having a pretty nice weekend — a good balance of getting out and doing stuff, and kicking back and killing time at home.

  12. Not exactly unexpected October 20, 2001

You know, it’s kind of bizarre to see a prediction come true. About the time I was leaving TimeFrame, Rick and Tim and I all were pretty sure that the way the business was heading, it would be closing down in about six months.

  13. Enterprise: Unexpected October 18, 2001

And would the Klingons really be appeased/tempted by the possibility of being given holographic technology? Seems to me that they’d be more interested in the cloaking technology that the alien ship was using.

  14. If I ever go postal… October 17, 2001

I swear, if I ever completely lose it, flip out, and go postal, I’m going to end up doing it with a staple gun.

  15. Thirteen Days October 16, 2001

In one of the historical background pieces, there were some ‘man on the street’ interviews with people at the time this all was going on — and just about anything that they said could easily have been said at any point within the past month.

  16. I’m still alive October 16, 2001

Funny thing about running the copyroom at a financial firm — October 15th is the deadline for the six-month extention from April 15th. Made things pretty crazy around here.

  18. Ch ch ch ch ch changes October 8, 2001

After considering it for a few days, I finally figured I’d give it a shot this morning, and for the first time in about 8 years or so, I’m clean shaven.

  19. A sunny Saturday afternoon October 6, 2001

The movie 2001 has been cleaned up, restored, and is hitting theaters again, and yesterday was the opening night of its run here in Seattle — at the Cinerama, no less.
