Need help?
Links, Weblogs 07/18/2003 |Got a question? Can’t find an answer? Take a quick peek at Help!Blog, maybe someone can help you out. Looks like a good resource if it takes off — kind of like LazyWeb, only more rounded in topic. Their news page, unfortunately, is all sorts of funky in Safari.

With Microsoft ending IE updates for Mac, and Netscape folding, will Safari be the only major browser left standing?
If netscape is folding, will mozilla go too?
Just questions I could look up on my own, but figure you know answers to already and have an opinion about.

Things don’t look quite that dire at the moment.
IE, while not getting updated anymore, is not likey to die anytime soon. As of last March, the last time I ran a full set of statistics, my browser version chart shows that 70% of djwudi.com’s visitors used some version of IE. Much as we might wish they would, all those people aren’t going to switch to another browser overnight, or even in the next few years.
Netscape’s demise isn’t killing Mozilla (or any of the family of Mozilla based browsers), thankfully — rather, the Mozilla Foundation will be taking over.
Safari is likely to keep growing market share over the next few years, though, as more new Macs hit the market with Safari as their default browser. Given that Safari is actually a damn good browser, this can only be a good thing in the long run.
Things aren’t entirely solid at the moment, but they’re not entirely dire, either.
