Robinson cleared, vote rescheduled
Religion 08/05/2003 |Thanks to Dad for the pointer to this story in his comment five minutes ago (I love the ‘net sometimes)!
The clergyman seeking to become the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church has been cleared of 11th-hour allegations, church sources have confirmed, NBC News’ Jim Avila reported Tuesday afternoon. The vote by bishops to confirm the elevation of the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, which had been postponed Monday for an investigation into the surprise allegations, was rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Well, anyone who has ben an Episcopalian can very well wonder how “organized” we are, but I am pleased with the outcome. By the bye, a group who is still opposed to women as priests and bishops tried to raise this issue again, and the Convention did the Robert’s Rules Of Order version of saying, “It has been 27 years. Give it a rest!” They refused to reopen the issue. No Vishoip is fgorced to orain anyone, female or male, they feel inappropriate, and no parish is forced to accept a priest, male of female, they do not want, so the Convention declared this a “non-issue.”
If anyone is interested in knowing everything going on in convention, and some of it is pretty dull, I have been posting Cnvention nes releases at
