Along with all the other introductions from this morning’s keynote, the iTunes Music Store got a lot of new goodies. Somewhere around 1000 more albums have been added to the classical genre (iTMS link), they’re listing the top 100 downloaded tracks (iTMS link) of 2003, and — most interesting to me of all of these — they’ve partnered with Billboard to present the top 100 songs of 1946-2003 (iTMS link)!
Out of curiosity, I looked up the Billboard Top 100 for 1991, the year I graduated High School… All of the following links are iTMS links, which require iTunes to be installed on your computer. Bolded items I actually have in my music collection. Apparently they don’t have all of the top 100, as there are only 68 songs listed here — I wonder who they’re missing?

I have about as many of this list as you do but not one match your list? 1,11,13,16,17,22,24,31,39,46,47,48,57,64
As a fellow 1991 graduate, I had to look up the complete list. Check it out here. Rico. Suave.
That’s awesome. I still mutter “Rico…Suave…” at random moments every so often. Fewer and fewer people have any clue what I’m babbling about anymore, though.
HA! I graduated in ‘91 as well, and when I heard about the Billboard charts on ITMS, that was teh first thing I did…. See back in high school the last thing I was interested in was what was on teh Billboard charts, so I took some time to see what I “missed”….yeah, not much
But it’s fun to listen to some of those and realize just how strongly planted in my unconsciousness some of those songs are just from being subjected to them through radio and video.
But, I do still love the DNA remix of Tom’s Diner….
I am sitting In the morning At the diner On the corner
