You! Put your hands up and drop your skirt!
Current Affairs, Politics 03/24/2004 |Now here’s a good way to spend taxpayer’s money — the Georgia House just voted 166-0 to ban female genital piercing.
An amendment [to a bill banning female genital mutilation] adopted without objection added “piercing” to the list of things that may not be done to female genitals. Even adult women would not be allowed to get the procedure. The bill eventually passed 160-0, with no debate.
Amendment sponsor Rep. Bill Heath, R-Bremen, was slack-jawed when told after the vote that some adults seek the piercings. “What? I’ve never seen such a thing,” Heath said. “I, uh, I wouldn’t approve of anyone doing it. I don’t think that’s an appropriate thing to be doing.” The ban applies only to women, not men.
<
p>Well, of course it only applies to women. Nobody’s gonna tell us menfolk what we can and can’t do with our peckers (as long as we’re not doing them with other men, y’hear?)!
I do wonder just how they intend to enforce this law, though. Can I get on the task force to investigate possible infractions?

It’s times like these, along with the smoking ban they want, that I’m glad I live in Georgia.
I’m aghast, he damn bible belt and ultraconservative people in charge down here really do manage to mangle the point. So what next? Ban ALL piercings altogether?
I am extremely upset to know that THIS is what my fucking taxes are going towards… Dumbfucks like this. There is also supposed to be a GA congressmen (state congress) trying to pass a state law that all restaurants in Georgia be required to serve sweetened ice tea, just incase anybody wants it…

I heard that on the radio this morning. Astounding! I have no fear that the various piercing parlours will continue to provide the ladyfolk with all their piercing needs.

Long Live The Prince Alberts!
Okay, that was a joke, just to make sure.
I’m all fine and well with the fact that some women want their lips pierced or what not. Does anyone know, though, if were the law repealed, would “religious” reasons be grounds for “mutilating” or piercing a minor female’s sex organs? If that were the case, I would support a ban on such practices on minors. I don’t believe it should be an intrinsic right of a religious organization to do something with or without a minor’s permission that would leave their body permanently changed. Besides, getting rid of the clitoris is very much a tragedy.
However, the ban is purely illegal on a couple different grounds: 1. It is discriminatory. If they get their junk protected, I want my junk protected. 2. It contains no exceptions at all for females who want it to happen. This is not like abortion where there is a considerable gray area; a woman’s body is her own. Period.

I might not live in georgia, but I still think thats a direct restriction put against our freedom of speech. Thats the way some of us females like to express ourselves. If I want to pierce anything on my body, i should be able to do so, no matter what anyone says.My question is: How can you tell anyone what to do wiht hteir bodies?
