Not sound medical advice
Life 04/05/2004 |I really think that going out dancing is one of the best things I can do for myself when getting over a bug. It doesn’t sound like the usual cure, but it seems to work for me. I figure it’s something along these lines:
First off, I’m not goofy enough to go out when I’m feeling my worst.
Secondly, I move enough when I dance that it goes a long way to working out the stiffness and soreness in my muscles from that wonderful full-body ache you get when fighting off a bug. Short of having a professional masseuse at my beck and call, dancing seems to be the best way to get rid of that.
And lastly, the exercise forces me to breathe deeply enough that when I do have to cough, I’m more likely to get a good, from-the-bottom-of-the-lungs cough that actually does some good, rather than just shallow little hacking coughs that just aggravate things.
Now, keep in mind that I Am Not A Doctor (I just play one in our nation’s hospitals).
But it seems to work for me.

The other thing which exercise, especially dancing does, it that it causes the lymph system to circulate. Being as how when one is ill the lymph system fills up with bad things, circulation of that system clears the poisons out more quickly and actually does help recovery. Exercise is always good - especially when one knows that the body will protest loudly if it’s too much. Glad you better.

Michael mentioned today that one good way he’s found to get over the last dredges of being sick is to go out dancing. I have another method - but unlike his, it involves staying in bed. You still get plenty…

I agree with you Michael. As long as you don’t over do it, there are benefits. The deep breathing, the open blood vessels, the rush of oxygen to the cells all aid in healing. Thou I tend to like sexmuffin’s treatment better. The orgasm is Gods own pharmaceutical factory. There are enough endorphins after a good one to forget every ache and pain you ever had.
