But is it a specific ‘here’, or an existential ‘here’?
Humor 04/07/2004 |Finally, six months after coming up with the idea, I finally got around to getting my own “I’m just here to get laid.” t-shirt and bookbag.
And yes, I am crazy enough to carry the bag around town, or wear the t-shirt in public (though, as t-shirts are outside of the dress code at work, I’m out of luck there).
iTunes: “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (from Pal Joey)” by Segal, Vivienne from the album Broadway: The Great Original Cast Recordings (1950, 3:11).

you (one) could hypothesize that “I’m just here to get laid” is really just answering the evolutionary imperative, and, with that in mind, it would be the existential “here,” with specificity determining the degree of success.

Oh man, I wish I could afford to pay CafePress’ ridiculous prices. That would be a FANTASTIC club shirt.

Hey, save up for a week or so.
I know what you mean, though — I only jacked the price up by a dollar in the hopes of making some small amount of profit.
I’d actually rather have a white-on-black version of the shirt, but CafePress doesn’t do black shirts. I’d have to find another t-shirt manufacturer and order in bulk. It’d make my per-shirt cost a lot lower, so I’d be able to sell them for less and make more of a profit…but I’d have to be able to outlay a larger initial sum and then hope that I could sell enough to make it worthwhile. So far, I haven’t had enough spare cash to give that approach a shot.
One of these days, though…

Having come from a Culture foreign to the term “Book Bag”, what exactly is it. Here in Australia, they are called “Man Bags” (a Pun on Hand Bags, and the Gender Stereotype saying that Men should carry all their belongings in the Pockets of their Stubbie Shorts ;)).
Anyway, Michael, how big is the CaféPress “Book Bag”? Would I be able to fit my 12” iBook in one?

Dan — according to the CaféPress site, the bag is 14 1/2” x 12” x 5”, which I’m sure will handle a 12” iBook without a problem (probably a 15” iBook too, actually). The only downside I’d see to using it for a computer is that while the inner part is divided and provides a good spot to keep a notebook computer, the bag isn’t padded. For some people this won’t be a worry, but I know many people prefer to use padded computer bags to protect against the occasional jolt.
Not having a laptop myself, I just toss whatever I need for the day in there (book, soda, work shirt, tie, anything else that might come in handy) and call it good, and it works great for me.
