Emptying out the apartment
Life 04/17/2004 |Consider this advance notice for anyone in the Seattle area that reads this site: within the next week, I’m probably going to be putting up a lot of goodies for sale. I just need to do a little bit of research to figure out good asking prices before I put up a firm list.
Basically, I’ve finally reached a point where I’m sick to death of my continuing financial struggles, and getting myself away from constantly stressing over money has finally taken precedence over my collection of “boy toys”.
Items likely to be up for grabs include:
- 27” Sony Wega television
- JVC 5-disc CD changer
- Technics stereo receiver
- Technics digital surround processor (best if sold with the receiver, adds Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 surround processing)
- JVC progressive-scan DVD player
- Two Klipsch speakers (very high-end home stereo speakers)
- Somewhere in the general vicinity of 200 DVDs, including complete collections of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
- Pioneer CMX-5000 dual-CD player (yes, it’s still here…)
Prices, pictures, and more detailed listings will go up as soon as possible as the week progresses and I get everything figured out.
Right now, though, I’m off with Prairie to see The Merry Wives of Windsor at The Seattle Center’s Shakespeare in the Park.

Good for you, Michael! I oscillate wildly between both ends of the spectrum — saving too much and not saving enough — on any given day.
I’ve found Quicken to be enormously helpful — not just in tracking, but in budgeting and savings-goal-setting as well. I’m actually planning more than a week ahead these days.
Is this limited just to Seattleites? I won’t be able to help you offload most of your stuff (since I’m in Anchorage), but I’m definitely interested in some of your DVD action, and don’t mind media-mail delivery speed to reduce shipping costs. Hook me up.
Hope you enjoyed the Shaxper.

I wonder why almost all of the comments for the DJ unit were from Europe? More electronic music over there? good luck finding a buyer actually in THIS hemisphere!

Royce — the DVDs will definitely be open to all interested parties, as shipping for those is fairly low. No worries at all there.
Fury — noted, I’ll talk to you about that soon.
Phil — um…sorry?
The electronics would just be a pain in the butt to have to figure out shipping on, especially as I don’t have any of the boxes for them anymore. Just the way it goes….
Anita — not a bad idea, thanks! I probably wouldn’t even have thought of that.
Joel — no clue there. In fact, the only interest that I got was from people far outside of the Seattle area, even when I did get requests from this side of the globe. Still, I keep hoping.

Garage Sale: Electronics
Okay, so here’s what’s up for grabs. Only a few conditions: buyers need to be in the Seattle area and able to come by my apartment in downtown Seattle to pick up the goods. This is only because I don’t
