Well, they knew they needed someone! It could have been a matter of “self-selection,” since competent applicants would note the error in their application.

Or it could be that they need an editor to look over the job description. I know which I think is more likely.

When I was younger and hotheaded, I once applied for a job and mentioned an error in their ad. When they re-ran the ad and still didn’t correct the error, I angrily withdrew my application from the company.
Now that I’m older and generally grouchy, I let such things pass. Perhaps we’re all lowering our standards and settling for mediocre qualtiy.
