Ack! I almost forgot…
Life May 9th, 2004 |Happy Mother’s Day, mom!
Y’know, one of these days I’m going to remember early enough to actually call, rather than spending the day wandering around in the sun, then remembering Mother’s Day when I start going through my daily reads when I get home in the evening.
On the bright side, I did clue in before midnight, which is better than I’ve done some years…
(Sheepish grin)

Ah! You noticed an hour earlier than my father did. My mother called and asked if he’d called his mother because his mother had just ranted her [my mother] out. While, I went up to ask him (as he was already half-asleep). As they say, eyes as big as saucers.

Because I worked in Prudhoe Bay and was often out of town for weeks at a time (sometimes months) I routinely missed “Mothers Day” My mother forgave me for missing it because I always picked a day later in the year and sent flowers and arrived with a gift and give her a kiss to say Happy Mothers day! A different day every year and some times as late as September. Before she passed away she told me that having two “Mothers days” every year was one of the highlights of her life and having the second one be a surprise was even better.
So even if you forget. Find another way to celebrate the day. Let her know you love her, let her know you care. She’ll forgive you. After all, she’s your mother.
