Batman Begins
Film 07/30/2004 |While I knew that Waner Brothers was working on bringing the Batman franchise back from the neon grave that Joel Schumacher buried it in, I had no idea that the project was this far along: the teaser trailer has just been posted.
The trailer doesn’t really show me enough to be absolutely sure, but it does look promising. What looks more promising, however, was the cast they’ve lined up for this thing!
- Director: Christopher Nolan (Memento)
- Batman/Bruce Wayne: Christian Bale
- Ducard: Liam Neeson
- Alfred Pennyworth: Michael Caine
- Rachel Dodson: Katie Holmes
- Sgt. James Gordon: Gary Oldman
- Lucius Fox: Morgan Freeman
- Richard Earle: Rutger Hauer
With any luck, we just might get a watchable Batman movie again.

Very exciting! Did you know there’s also a new animated series—The Batman—coming in September!

Wow, I hadn’t heard about the trailer (although the director and cast had peaked my curisority for some time).
As far as the previous movies, I always liked George Clooney’s comment that he “single-handedly destroyed the Batman series.”

I saw a picture of the new Batmobile somewhere. I quote a Slashdot comment — “It looks like the bastard lovechild of an F1 racer and a military troop transport.”
I’ve never actually seen Batman 2, and I can’t remember the first movie at all. I need to see those again.
The toy commercials known as Batman & Robin and Batman Forever are best left forgotten, though. Batman had nipples on his suit. Ugh.
It’s great that they go back to the dark, gritty style of the first two movies.

Forget the First movies, this is going to be a whole new ballgame. Bale looks huge in his costum. The other top nodge actors look almost exactly like in the comics. Unfortunatly the origin story is going to be a little different then the original by DC Comics. But it’s close enough. I’m looking forward to this one.
