LotR:TYEBEE (Lord of the Rings: Till Your Eyes Bleed Extended Edition)

With the release of a six-minute long trailer for the upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Extended Edition, excitment about finally being able to see the full-length, uncut version of the trilogy is mounting. Prairie and I have had rough plans to hold a LOTRfest once the DVD was out — now that’ll be a little easier, thanks to a /.er who planned out a schedule:

11hr and 20 min is a significant investment of time, but I think it can be done.

7am: friends arrive, pancake breakfast. 8am: Fellowship of the Ring (~4+ hrs) 12:30pm: Lunch 2:00pm: The Two Towers (~3 1/2 hrs) 5:30pm: Dinner 7:00pm: Return of the King (~ 4 1/2 hrs) 11:30pm: Eyes ooze out of our sockets, bedsores open on our asses.

<

p>Sounds like a pretty good approach to me. Prairie and I haven’t solidified a specific day for this yet, but would any Seattle-area friends feel like submitting themselves to this along with us some upcoming weekend?

Let me know!

Update: Prairie took a moment to actually look at a calendar (all these new-fangled concepts that I just don’t ever seem to grasp), and it looks like the target date is Saturday, Dec. 18th. Consider this an open invite (at least until I start worrying about how many people I can fit into a studio apartment, if I actually get that much interest). :)

  1. Sounds incredibly good to me, too bad I live nowhere near Seattle. Even worse, here in Argentina none of the Extended Versions have been released yet…:(

  2. Depending if you want total strangers down from the up-north, you might have a candian or two down (time and scheduling depending of course :)

oh wow… that does sound like fun. It depends on when it is. I know I’m not a close friend, but I’d be interested. :)

  4. BCloud — sorry to hear that! They’re definitely worth watching if/when you get the chance.

Arcterex — hey, I don’t have a problem with that. Only possible caveats are that with a studio apartment in downtown Seattle, parking is tricky, and I can’t exactly offer much in the way of accommodations (should this be more than a day trip — and with ~15 hours of movie and socializing, a day trip sounds more reasonable than driving in and out). If you do want to pursue this further, just let me know, though (and be prepared for me to drool over you camera if you have it with you ;)

  5. fairie — Close enough of a friend! :)

  6. May I come? I will probably still be in the Puget Sound area that day, but I’d need to check. Provided you have a stove and cooking stuff and food, I’d be willing to cook as well! Very willing! (Read: Aspiring chef stuck in college dorms with no stove for two and a half months.)

BCloud: Order them via Amazon. That’s what I’ve done. I’m from Ecuador, and that’s the only way I can see the EEs. There’s a two week delivery time and it costs $5 additional but it’s worth the cost.

(Y después de todo… ¿¿porqué te estoy hablando en inglés si eres de Argentina??)

  8. Robert — feel free!

Unfortunately, my stove is non-functional, so my cooking is limited to the microwave, though the offer is certainly appreciated!

I’ll send out an e-mail a few days before the 18th to those of you who’ve expressed interest with directions, details, etc. This should be an entertaining day!

  9. Michael - will let you know… if you could add me to the list of possibles to be emailed a couple of days previous I’d really appreciate it!

  10. Romm - I’ve gave thought to that for a long time now, but I don’t feel good about the basic shipping method. I know that it can takes months (yeah) to get here, and even then, the package might get lost when entering the country. The only posibility left would be the -don’t remember the name of it- shipping method, but that’s too expensive to my wallet, so I guess I’ll just wait some more and see what happens.

(kept writing in english ‘cos I don’t wanna make everyone else feel left out ;)

You guys enjoy the movies and post some pictures of it when the time comes.

Really BCloud? I really don’t think so… The postal service here is famous for its incompetence… hehe But despite of that, the longest shipping time I have waited for (using the cheapest method), is 2 weeks (calendar days).

And I have been able to order not only CDs and DVDs but also books!! (that’s how I ordered my highly steemed Oracle and Perl Books :P)
