Toy Story 3 having problems January 31, 2005
o one wants to direct ‘Toy Story 3.’ That’s the word in Hollywood’s animation world, where the third installment of the incredibly successful Pixar series has no director, writer or, possibly, stars. My sources in the animation biz tell me that Disney, which will make ‘Toy Story 3’ without Pixar, cannot find a director to guide the project.

New camera! January 30, 2005
The day finally came when I had enough funds available to replace the camera I lost nearly a year ago. My new toy: a Canon Powershot A95.

You just can’t sing in the supermarket… January 30, 2005
What a blast. This world needs more random silliness in it from time to time, and we had a lot of fun being part of this particular bit of randomness. Much giggling and many smiles from everyone in the group and from whatever customers happened to be around in each store — just the thing for a grey winter day in Seattle.

Goodbye, Grandma January 28, 2005
Earlier this week, I god word from dad that mom’s mother had suffered a massive heart attack and was in her nursing home’s hospital, likely with only a few days left to live. A second, more mild heart attack followed soon afterwards, and today at just a little after 4pm Seattle time, Grandma died.

Just a quick run-through tonight — I’ve got dinner and movies waiting for me — I’ll come back and babble more about these later on (maybe). Same deal as always, ten songs at random…

Michael Hanscom for Governor of Washington January 27, 2005
If these idiots actually force us into a re-vote, I’ll mount a write-in candidacy drive. Michael Hanscom for Governor of Washington. Sounds good to me. Hell, just running on a platform of ‘no re-votes if I lose’ should get me a sizeable chunk of the vote.

A pronounced deficiency in IQ | Metafilter January 27, 2005
My theory - it’s Bush’s comprehensive knowledge of and fluency in Latin that leads to his pronunciation.

I hate it when I’m stupid January 26, 2005
So now I’ve got a TypePad account that I’m not using that’s all paid up and useable until next December. What in the world do I do with that?

Consequences of an Overactive Imagination January 25, 2005
People passing me on the streets at night never know of the creatures stalking them. Wingless batlike creatures the size of large dogs, walking on their forelegs, hind legs slung up and over their shoulders and terminating in wicked-looking claws.

Weird January 24, 2005
‘I’ before ‘E’, except after ‘C’. And unless the word is ‘weird’. Why is that? I constantly get it wrong, and it drives me up the wall.

Happy Birthday Macintosh! January 24, 2005
I’m a bit late to the party on this one, unfortunately, but the Macintosh turned 21 years old today. Even better, there’s one heck of a birthday present to the Mac community out on the ‘net now: the long-lost video of the original introduction of the Mac by Steve Jobs.

Stop! January 23, 2005
The Windows Error Message Generator allowed me to recreate (to the best of my ability) the single funniest and most exasperating error messages I’ve ever seen on a Windows machine.

Death of a Spammer, in a Place Called Hope January 20, 2005
The crime was murder. It was during the autopsy that the medical examiner noticed an obstruction lodged deep in the victim’s throat. He reached in and pulled out the object — a can of Spam.

Judy Bachrach on FOX News January 20, 2005
Judy Bachrach was on FOX News and completely ambushed FOX anchor Brigitte Quinn. Rather than a cute fluff piece on the inauguration, Bachrach launched into an indictment of the forty million dollars being spent on Bush’s parties.

Prior art for ‘nofollow’ blocking January 19, 2005
Most of the time I see block-level ‘nofollow’ mentioned, credit has gone to Brad Choate’s post from Feb. 2002. However, the idea itself dates as far back as Jan. 2001 in Zoltan Milosevic’s Fluid Dynamics Search Engine.
