Michael, over at eclecticism, has mirrored some pretty spectacular photo’s of Mount St Helen’s recent activity. From the looks of it, these photo’s were taken by the US Geological Survey. These are really spectacular images.

Right after the initial eruption several years ago, I was returning to AK on a Guard flight. Though flying was restricted in the area of the eruption, as we were military, we were able to get a MARSA [military assumes responsibility for the separation of aircraft] clearance, and dropped down to look at Mt. St. Helens. Somewhere, in one of my photo albums, are the pictures I took. Though the eruption was over, the aftermath was pretty impressive in its devestation.
