Podcast 02: Difficult Listening Hour 02v2
Music June 22nd, 2005 |And here we have the second of my old collection of mix sessions that I’m putting up for download and podcast. A little longer than the last one, and a little more pop-y. There actually was a ‘v1’ of this mix (which may go up eventually), but it had a few slight flaws that I wanted to fix, and I ended up choosing a slightly different set of tracks to use (though, I may have simply introduced new flaws…so it goes). Hence, ‘v2’.
Standard disclaimer: All the mixes I’m posting were mixed ‘live’ — running a Pioneer dual CD mixer directly into my computer and recording straight to .mp3 — and have had no post-mix editing done in the computer. As such, they’re not flawless, but they’re not bad, either, if I do say so myself.
Here’s the link: Difficult Listening Hour 02v2 (1h 04m 41s, 59.5Mb). Tracks included are:
- Faithless ‘Salva Mea’
- Transister ‘Head (Hot Tracks)’
- Dee-Lite ‘Groove is in the Heart (Van Helden ‘99)’
- Madonna ‘Music (Deep Dish Dot Com)’
- Sarah McLachlan ‘Possession (Rabbit in the Moon)’
- DJ Icey ‘This is How My Drummer Drums’
- The Crystal Method ‘Busy Child’
- Wink ‘Higher State of Consciousness (Itty Bitty Boozy Woozy/vs. Public Enemy)’
- Underworld ‘Rez’

Good to know!
Any requests?
I’m going to have to figure something out when I run out of mixes that are already set to go…

Apple just released iTunes 4.9 with the ability to subscribe, publish and record podcast… might be a fun idea, if you put your Difficult Music into an RSS feed so people can import it into iTunes?
Anyway, great show!

P.S. did you get my email?

I’m just now downloading the new iTunes, so I haven’t tried this yet myself, but according to their info pages…
So in theory, since I’ve turned on all the requisite technical fiddly bits to make my feeds podcast-compatible, you should be able to add either my full-content feed or my full-content-plus-comments feed to iTunes and be good to go. In theory.
I don’t think I’d be submitting my podcast to the directory, as I’m sending out commercial music. I don’t think I’d be running afoul of any laws (I’m not sending the ‘casts out for profit, just to promote the music and my mixing, so I think it’d fall under the same “fair use” grey area that allows DJs to produce their ‘For Promotional Use Only’ mix CDs), but just to be on the safe side…

I put one of your RSS feeds in iTunes and it worked like a charm. I didn’t investigate enough before I posted… and just assumed that you would need a special feed for podcast feeds. B.t.w. iTunes also imported the video from “Shake, rattle,…”. Which is played in the small album art window.
Thanks!
