She struggled to what?
Humor July 6th, 2005 |- Kottke seems to be resurrecting an old meme. Evidence:
- Kottke, July 6, 2000: As I was walking home
- Megnut, July 6, 2000: As I was walking home
- Plasticbag, July 7, 2000: On a little girl on a bicycle
- Metafilter, July 7, 2000: Comments on 2382
- Kottke, July 6, 2005: A long time ago…
I got curious how many other people had participated in the meme, and did a Google Search for one sentence in the post.
Google returned 162 hits.
However — and this is what made all this funny to me — Google also suggested that maybe that wasn’t really what I wanted to search for. Maybe I really wanted to search for the phrase, “She still had the training wheels on as she wobbled and struggled to paddle.”
It’s amazing how different the results are when you change one little letter.

Sorry to drop in unannounced - just wanted to tell you that I am grateful you had the “Joe Republican” piece on your site.
I referenced it in a comment to an angry Republican.
…if you have a chance, feel free to check out the blog (in the URL above). We have a little movement going…
I suppose one could think of it as a ‘meme war’…and the battle is only just beginning.
Peace.

I’ve just been reading too much Harry Potter recently — subconciously invoked Hermione’s Time Turner.

That’s why human proofing is so important, even if something makes it through spell check!
What is meme in real words?

Here’s a good overview definition for ‘meme’ — there’s much more in the full article if you’re curious, though:
