He has a terrific imagination, he’s going to be the next Ray Bradbury.

Halloween Weekend October 30, 2005
Erk. Forgot that daylight savings time kicked in (out?) today, and got up an hour early. Meh. Could’ve had that extra hour in bed! Fun night out at the Vogue for Halloween, though.

OpinionOutpost Apology October 28, 2005
Last June, I got a comment on my site that as far as I could tell was comment spam advertising a site called Opinion Outpost. Not being a fan of that style of advertising, I posted about it. Yesterday, I actually got an apology from the person who originally left the comment that started it all.

More family photos October 27, 2005
A couple of months ago, Prairie and I drove down to join my parents at my brother’s house in Corvallis, OR for a weekend. Dad’s just uploaded his pictures of the trip, and two in particular caught my eye.

America’s Next Muppet October 27, 2005
I’m not sure what I got more excited about — the fact that there’s a Muppet-centric weblog that I just discovered, or that the Muppets may be coming back to TV!

There are some gorgeous colors in the fall in the Seattle Arboretum…as well as some rather odd wildlife.

My blog is worth… October 22, 2005
But the real question is…would I actually sell it if offered the money? Heh. On the one hand, that’s a lot of money — on the other hand, that’s my name. Of course, it’s not going to happen, so I don’t think I really need to worry about it.

Why Target’s target is red October 22, 2005
Target’s policy is that the customer can go to hell if their pharmacist thinks you’re a sinner. Target will let their pharmacist turn you away so that YOU have to go find another pharmacy, rather than their pharmacist getting another frigging job.

Voltaire at the Vogue October 21, 2005
In addition to the [photos I took][3] over the course of the night, I also took a few minutes of video a few times during the night, and have put together a nine-minute sampler of bits and pieces of the show. Be warned — not everything in the video is exactly “family friendly”, though it is quite funny.

Playing the race card October 20, 2005
Prairie and I got a sudden hankering for ice cream and stopped into the Baskin Robbins just down the street from our apartment. A couple of teenagers were hanging out in the store, chatting with their friends behind the counter. Sitting at one of the tables, a skinny black kid, decked out in street-standard clothes said, ‘I don’t think I could live with you people.’

Top Ten Weblog Design Mistakes October 18, 2005
Jakob Nielsen recently published a list of the top ten weblog design mistakes. As I’ve done in the past with similar listings, I took a quick look to see how I feel my site fares against his list.

The Vampire Club October 18, 2005
Since I only had one album by Voltaire (The Devil’s Bris), I decided to see if the iTMS had any available, as they’ve been doing a rather remarkable job of expanding their underground/goth/industrial/anything non-mainstream collections. It turns out they had two others in addition to The Devil’s Bris: Boo Hoo and Then And Again, both of which I snagged.

Wal-Mart Sics Secret Service on Student October 16, 2005
Need another reason to stay far, far away from Wal-Mart? Or maybe another reason to be disgusted with the culture of fear and repression of political dissent in the country? Be glad you’re not this high school student.

The Rhythm of Life October 13, 2005
My strongest memory of a trip to England revolves around a single song. Our show-stopper piece that year was a song called ‘The Rhythm of Life’ — fun lyrics, an upbeat tempo, and a gorgeous arrangement that made every part fun to sing had quickly made it a favorite, and we’d all become quite fond of ending our concerts with this number.

A few general updates on life October 11, 2005
I haven’t really done one of these in a while, so I figured it was about time. Work goes well as I get used to being a salesperson, and fun with scheduling effects everything from planned trips to Alaska to how much ‘puter time I’m getting.

The Ten Commandments of Clubbing October 9, 2005
All of it seems pretty obvious to me, but I can’t count the number of times when I’ve wished that more people had these in their head. Bunch o’ savages in this town….

Much fun — birthday parties, friends old and new, and bouncing and flirting at the Vogue. All told, not a bad night in the least.
