  1. Happy New Years Eve December 31, 2005

Looks like the plan is for Prairie and I to have dinner and rest for a bit, grab showers, and then head downtown to hit the Noc No along with gracesine, rainfromheaven…and whoever else may show up.

  2. Tag Intersections December 30, 2005

A little bit more work on improving the tags.app implementation here: tag intersection searches from the search results page.

  3. This is a test… December 30, 2005

…this is only a test. Even better, it’s a test that worked — there’s now a tag search field available.

According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders’ Distorted Tunes Test, I have a fine sense of pitch.

  5. TypeKey broken? December 29, 2005

I’m not sure how I’ve managed to do this, but while disabling the OpenID Comment plugin, I’ve managed to break the ability to log in via TypeKey for authentication.

  6. Ten Years (roughly) December 29, 2005

Going by my earliest archived entry, I’ve been blogging in one form or another for ten years as of 3:13am (Alaska time), December 29, 2005. Here’s to the next ten years.

  7. Lens Lust followup December 28, 2005

My Lens Lust post of a week or so ago has touched off a slight Nikon d70s vs. Canon Rebel XT debate in the comments. For the curious photo buff, here’s why I’m lusting after the d70s instead of the Rebel XT.

  8. All paid up December 28, 2005

Around $1000 poorer and after approximately 4.34 miles of walking, I should be all set to start school in a few days.

I’ve known far too many people who would do well to heed this advice.

  10. Mad Max December 28, 2005

Prairie and I spent three nights last week watching the entire Mad Max trilogy. When all’s said and done, I’m not a big fan of Mad Max as a trilogy — but you can definitely count me as a fan of Beyond Thunderdome.

  12. The stuff of nightmares December 28, 2005

Oh my lord. It’d bad enough reading about an airplane accident — thankfully, one that didn’t end in tragedy — in the steady, calm voice of newspaper reporting. But then comes the report of the incident from passenger Jeremy Hermanns.

  13. Best TV of 2005 December 28, 2005

Of Time’s list of the best TV shows of 2005, I’ve only seen one — but I’m not going to argue at all with their assessment. Number one on the list…

  14. Silktide Sitescore December 27, 2005

From what I can tell, my site gets a fairly good score from Silktide, a web development firm based out of England. Some of the areas I got marked down on aren’t a surprise at all, but I did get a laugh out of the one section that I was rated as ‘Very Poor’.

  15. Lazy Christmas Day December 26, 2005

Christmas Day was wonderful this year. I woke up around 10am to the smell of homemade cinnamon rolls baking in the oven, and spent the rest of the day lazing around the apartment with Prairie.

I have no idea what prompted someone to leave this comment on my site, or what relation (if any) they think it might have to the post that it was added to…but it’s just long and bizarre enough that I think I’ll keep it.

  19. …was blind, but now I see December 21, 2005

Back again, new and improved — after swapping out my old, dead video card with a brand-spankin’ new Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition, my Mac is back up and running.

  20. The Twelve Days of Christmas December 20, 2005

Today, mom sent me a neat bit on the origin of the Twelve Days of Christmas. I’d not heard this before, so never knew that the song wasn’t secular — in fact, it’s actually a ‘coded’ catechism song. Neat to find out about that…

If you worry about equipment, you’re an amateur; if you worry about money, you’re a professional; if you worry about the light, you’re a master.

  23. Lens Lust December 20, 2005

Last night during a slow point at work I found a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 to pop onto the store’s D70s. Oh, wow…such a nice lens. I spent a good half hour shooting randomly around the store and experimenting. Man that lens has a nice shallow depth of field. I want!

  24. I’ve got the blues… December 19, 2005

I’ve been wanting to move away from the stock template included with Movable Type 3.2 for some time now, but just haven’t been able to find the time and energy to tackle the project. Today I actually managed to find both at once, and here’s the result.
