I’ve been using the free traffic monitoring service StatCounter for some time now to get an idea of how much traffic I’m pulling in. Here’s a look at the past year’s traffic for Eclecticism:

Q1: Jan. 01 - Mar. 31 2005

Site Traffic, Jan. 1, 2005-Mar. 31, 2005

TotalDaily Average
Page Loads:109,9081,221
Unique Visitors:82,105912
First Time Visitors:76,110846
Returning Visitors:5,99567

Overall fairly steady. A very slight upward trend over the quarter and one spike from a mention by Yahoo! Japan in an article about fired webloggers.

Q2: Apr. 01 - Jun. 30 2005

Site Traffic, Apr. 1, 2005-Jun. 30, 2005

TotalDaily Average
Page Loads:110,3091,212
Unique Visitors:86,021945
First Time Visitors:80,449884
Returning Visitors:5,57261

A very slight downward trend for the first two months of the quarter as my home-run webserver started showing its age. A nice jump in the third month thanks to a kind offer by Michael of Rain City Story for a more capable server that was able to handle all the requests. One moderate spike towards the end of the quarter from searches for photos of the nude bikers at the Fremont Solstice Parade.

Q3: Jul. 01 - Sep. 30 2005

Site Traffic, Jul. 1, 2005-Sep. 30, 2005

TotalDaily Average
Page Loads:234,6522,551
Unique Visitors:188,2812,047
First Time Visitors:179,6641,953
Returning Visitors:8,61794

Again, fairly steady across most of the quarter. One small spike from a /. comment mention and one small bump from an Engadget comment mention — and then one huge spike thanks to an old post being Farked. Whee!

Q4: Oct. 01 - Dec. 31 2005

Site Traffic, Oct. 1, 2005-Dec. 31, 2005

TotalDaily Average
Page Loads:172,4161,874
Unique Visitors:131,9981,435
First Time Visitors:123,2681,340
Returning Visitors:8,73095

Nothing really major happening this quarter — pretty steady all the way across, and no major spikes worth noticing.

2005 Overview

Site Traffic, Jan. 1, 2005-Dec. 31, 2005

TotalDaily Average
Page Loads:627,2821,719
Unique Visitors:488,4051,338
First Time Visitors:459,4911,259
Returning Visitors:28,91479

The year overall shows a slight tend upward. Not a huge one, and having moved to a webserver that doesn’t choke is a large factor in that, but it’s still good to see that I’m pulling in a few more people as time goes by. That Fark spike is still incredibly noticeable, of course.

Not a bad year in the end, I’d say.
