As You Wish
Film 02/17/2007 |I’d be hard pressed to come up with a Top Five (or even Top Ten or Twenty) list of favorite movies, but if I did, The Princess Bride would definitely be on there.

While watching some movies, the directors hand is so deeply intertwined and so heavyhanded it becomes not a movie but rather The Directors Movie. Woody Allen is like that, as well as some other directors that I won’t mention.
About 15 minutes into The Princess Bride my brain said, crap, this is a Carl Reiner movie and I’m not too fond of his work. I watched it all the way thru and while I didn’t like it, I won’t say I disliked it either. But the whole time I couldn’t get past Carl Reiner’s heavy hand.
As it turns out it is not a Carl Reiner film, it is a Rob Reiner film. I guess the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Because I could see Papa’s fingerprints all over the film.

I agree… I LOVE that movie!
The whole telling of a fairy tale with modern terminology but still set in the period is wonderful.
