Quote of the Day March 31, 2007
There’s a long standing theory that Hollywood action movies deliberately play up US urban gang violence…a part of a propaganda effort to persuade foreigners that America is not to be [messed] with. The British equivalent is Faulty Towers and Monty Python, which simply makes people want to stay the hell away in case it’s contagious.

I am so smart…S-M-R-T… March 20, 2007
See that bit, third line from the bottom? I made the Dean’s list! Okay, so for many people this wouldn’t be a big thing, but while I’ve never doubted that I’ve got a couple brain cells to rub together, good grades have never been a common occurrence in my life.

Satellite March 20, 2007
I’ve updated djwudi.com (which I’m using to highlight my photography) to use Satellite. Since Dreamhost has a few security measures in place that needed to be worked around, I’m detailing my changes to the source code under the jump.

A little tense… March 20, 2007
The nonconfessions inspired William Schneider, a political guru here, to note a few years ago that Washington had contributed a new tense to the language. ‘This usage,’ he said, ‘should be referred to as the past exonerative.’

Christina’s Candyman March 19, 2007
As I said above, the rest of Back to Basics didn’t grab me, but those three? I’d definitely say it’s worth spending the three bucks to snag ‘em off of iTunes. And don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone you’re listening to Christina Aguilera if you don’t want me to.

Flickr: User Interface Overload March 15, 2007
On the one hand, I really like the new collections organization structure that Flickr just added. It’s not perfect, but it’s nice to have more control over organizing my photos. However, the interface is getting…well, cluttered is about the nicest way to put it.

Seattleites March 12, 2007
Trudeau tweaks locals. Also amusing (to my mind): the somewhat confused reactions of many locals in the Seattle LiveJournal group that I found this in.

International Women’s Day March 8, 2007
International Women’s Day has been observed since in the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

The real problem with video piracy… March 6, 2007
This might just be the best send-up of the MAFIAA’s anti-piracy ads ever, making the case for buying pirate copies, rather than being stuck with DVDs that complain about piracy in unskippable, condescending PSAs.

New Header Images March 6, 2007
Two new images for the title banner have been added to the random rotation, one from each of the last two posts. The cropped versions have been added to the end of my header images roundup.

Marie Antoinette March 4, 2007
Last weekend, Prairie and I went down to the Blacklight, and they were playing Marie Antoinette on the projection screen. The costumes really caught Prairie’s eye while she was watching it, and we figured it would be worth a rent to see the pretties.
