Badass Bible Verses November 28, 2007
Cracked has a list of the top nine ‘badass’ bible verses. Just for fun, I’ll list the verse citations here. Any guesses at what stories they’re referring to (before looking at the linked article, of course)?

Schedule? What Schedule? November 27, 2007
Two more days without posting. It’s official — trying to enforce a daily posting routine just didn’t work for me this year.

Meme: The ‘80’s Movie Scientist Test November 24, 2007
I’m Jordan Cochran, the adorable fast-talking GIRL scientist of all things. While she may not be up there with the other super-geniuses of the ’80s, her awesome mechanical aptitude and geek-girl cuteness have made her the sweetheart of nerds for over 20 years.

Filler Post November 20, 2007
This post was intentionally left blank. If this were a real post, I’d actually say something with some actual content, rather than simply throwing a few random words up here to continue with the (mostly) one-a-day theme.

True Enough November 19, 2007
My coworker Rachel watched as our poster printer produced three posters, all wintertime shots taken in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. ‘Y’know,’ she said, ‘all the people in those shots are probably dead. That’s kind of depressing.’

Oscar the Adults-Only Grouch November 18, 2007
According to an earnest warning on Volumes 1 and 2, ‘Sesame Street: Old School’ is adults-only: ‘These early ‘Sesame Street’ episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.’

Missed One… November 17, 2007
Took a test in the morning before school (it was posted online at 6:30am), went to school, came home, had lunch with the girl, went to work, came home, had dinner with the girl, and went to bed. Somehow managed to completely forget about posting…and there goes the one-a-day streak.

In lieu of actually posting anything truly interesting, I give you one of my favorite shots from our trip to Hawaii this summer.

Ask Your Doctor For A Reason to Take It November 14, 2007
Apparently (and thankfully), Prairie and I aren’t the only ones watching these ads with more than a little distaste. Consumer Reports is starting what’s intended to be a series of video/weblog posts analyzing these DTC (direct-to-consumer) ads.

Best AP Retraction Ever November 13, 2007
In a Nov. 13 story, The Associated Press incorrectly reported that Paris Hilton was praised by conservationists for highlighting the problem of binge-drinking elephants in northeastern India. Lori Berk, a publicist for Hilton, said she never made any comments about helping drunken elephants in India.

My unlucky streak has ended! I’m now the (proud?) amused owner of a Canon Rebel (‘Official Camera of the NFL’) folding chair!

Dollhouse November 12, 2007
Question: What do you think of Joss Whedon’s new upcoming TV show “Dollhouse”? I know you’ve watched Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity, liked all of them (as far I as can remember) and I thought it was “weird” that you didn’t mention the news.

The Nerd Handbook November 11, 2007
While as with any broad overview of a particular genus or species, there is plenty of room for small or even large variations at the individual level, this field guide to understanding the common nerd should be required reading for many, many people, especially those involved with, living with, dating, or parenting nerds (also most varieties of dork or geek).

Tideland November 10, 2007
Tideland is one of the most bizarre and disturbing films I’ve seen in a long time. Terry Gilliam certainly isn’t getting any more normal as the years go by.

Any Questions? November 8, 2007
As long as I’m trying to come up with things to babble about, I might as well haul this idea out: anyone out there have any questions? Toss ‘em at me. I’ll see what I can do to answer them.

Uninspired November 7, 2007
I’m really trying to give this daily posting thing a good shot…but there are just some days when nothing seems particularly postworthy. Hopefully there won’t be too terribly many blatant ‘filler’ posts like this one over the course of the month.

Overspecialization? November 6, 2007
With all the different specialized blogging, pseudo-blogging, or linking websites and services available these days, I’m starting to lose track of how I’m ‘supposed’ to do this one-to-many online communication thing.

Ancient Technology November 5, 2007
My anthropology teacher had shown the class directly before ours a movie using an actual 16mm film projector, and the look of confusion, wonder, and near-horror on the face of one girl in our class was absolutely hilarious.
