If I can tell that you are talking to me on a cell phone while driving, I will hang up after asking you to call me back later. I don’t care if you’re friend, family, job recruiter, Trent Reznor, or Barack Obama. Do not call me while driving. It’s stupid and dangerous to yourself and anyone around you.

Amazon Kills Pocketpedia July 18, 2009
I saw the writing on the wall a couple of weeks ago when Delicious had their iPhone library app pulled for this same reason, and now Pocketpedia has been killed.

A Goodbye July 15, 2009
Renda Horn brought a lot of joy into this world, both through her many years of music and work with the choir and just by the simple virtue of being herself. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family, many friends, and the many, many kids and parents whose lives she touched. She’ll be missed.

Chances are you’re either going to love me or hate me for posting this. Personally, I think this is great — my tolerance for cheezy pop is really high — but there will be no hard feelings if you blame me for wanting to brillo pad your brain clean after watching this.

MiniBreak: Corvallis July 13, 2009
Emily, my sister-in-law, is just finishing her doctorate in oceanography, and has accepted a position doing post-doc work at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Great news, of course, but it does mean that they’re all moving across the country. Since that’s going to be a lot harder to visit than Corvallis, we wanted to make sure to get a visit with them in before they left.

Yesterday, nearly two years to the day after going to see Michael Bay’s first ‘Transformers’ film, Rick and I once again channelled our inner 12-year olds, did our best to turn off our brains, and headed off to see ‘Transformers: Rise of the Fallen’.

Jason Webley Elevanniversary July 4, 2009
ast night, Prairie and I went out to see Jason Webley’s Elevanniversary show, our first Webley show in a few years. We’d been skipping them lately, but with this being his eleventh anniversary show we decided this was one we wanted to see. In the end, while it wasn’t our all-time favorite Webley show, it was still good, (mostly) a lot of fun, and we’re glad we went.

Book Review: Gothic Charm School July 1, 2009
Simply put, this should be highly recommended, if not required reading not just for goths, but also for anyone curious about the goth community, whether because they are personally interested or because they have an acquaintance, friend, or loved one (spouse, significant other, boy- or girlfriend, relative, child, or secret crush) who counts themselves among the spooky set.
