  1. Say Cheese! September 16, 2008

Y’know, I probably shouldn’t have posted anything about that textbook I popped up in the other day. After months of quiet, as soon as that goes up, the Washington Post includes me in a list of twelve photos that should never have been posted online.

  2. I’m a Case Study September 11, 2008

I’m a case study in a textbook — and, contrary to what might be believed, it’s not a psychological textbook. Rather, it’s the latest repercussion from my fifteen minutes of fame way back when.

  3. French Headmaster Dooced January 19, 2006

The headmaster of a technical school in Lozere, France, has been dismissed after discovery of his anonymously-written weblog, which was deemed obscene and pornographic. Apparently he was discovered when he posted his photo in a recent entry.

  5. TechNewsWorld commentary mention March 3, 2005

Romm pointed out a mention of me in a commentary piece on TechNewsWorld that was published a couple of weeks ago. It’s a nice mention, too, as in addition to the standard ‘another fired blogger’ mention, the author also follows up with my reaction to the incident, and contrasts it to Ellen ‘Queen of Sky’ Simonetti’s Bloggers’ Bill of Rights campaign.

  6. Another interview March 3, 2005

I just got done with a lunchtime phone interview with a reporter for the AP. There’s no telling where it might show up, but there’s at least a chance that my name will start popping up again over the next day or so in the midst of another story about blogging and jobs.

  7. Another article in CNNMoney February 15, 2005

My Uncle Doug pointed this one out to me: Blogging is all fun and games, until the boss finds out. The article doesn’t cover any new ground, and I just get a single-sentence mention, but it’s another one for the list.

  9. Washington Post article on Blogging and Jobs February 11, 2005

About two weeks ago, I spent some time being interviewed by Amy Joyce of the Washington Post about my expulsion from the Microsoft campus for an article she was working on about the potential pitfalls of blogging about one’s job. The article went live today: Free Expression Can Be Costly When Bloggers Bad-Mouth Jobs.

  10. Another day, another Doocing February 9, 2005

Another one bites the dust, as they say — this time Mark Jen, formerly of Google. TDavid has a good wrapup of information on this latest ‘blogger gets fired’ story.

  11. Bloggers’ Rights and Blogophobia January 10, 2005

With the news of another weblogger losing his job because of posts on his weblog the issues of what webloggers can and cannot expect to be able to post on their weblogs has started bubbling ‘round the blogosphere again. Now there’s a proposed Bloggers’ Bill of Rights — but how useful is it? And which companies should really be singled out?

  12. Konichiwa! December 8, 2004

First off, my apologies, as it’s entirely likely that I managed to mangle the Americanized version of a Japanese greeting. Looks like the recent Wired article that I’m mentioned in just got picked up in Japan, which is sending another round of visitors my way.

  13. Howdy, Wired readers! December 6, 2004

Over a year after the incident, I’m getting another few seconds added to my fifteen minutes of fame: last week I was interviewed by phone by Wired, and their article hit the ‘net today.

  15. Another one bites the dust September 1, 2004

Yet another in the ongoing saga of webloggers canned for really stupid reasons. This time, it’s Troutgirl, who until recently worked for Friendster. Ontario Empoblog has a good rundown of the situation.

  16. It’s not all bad, really! August 6, 2004

Last month, I mentioned that I’d been in contact with a magazine reporter who was working on a story about weblogs and some of the potential pitfalls that can come about when recording your life online for the world to see. It appears that Anil has also been contacted by a reporter working on a similar story, and he ended up having some of the same reservations that I did.

  18. Unintended consequences July 1, 2004

A national magazine is looking for people whose weblogs have led to unexpected problems. I got interviewed because of my experiences with Microsoft, and now they’re looking for more personal, relationship-oriented stories. Can anyone out there help toss some pointers their way?

  19. Almost famous June 4, 2004

A couple of months ago, I was interviewed by a prominent news/entertainment magazine for an article they were preparing on webloggers who had lost their jobs or faced some other form of catastrophe due to their weblogging. Unfortunately, the article’s since been shelved.

  22. A minor mention April 7, 2004

This is progress, I think — references to my adventures with Microsoft are now little more than a throw away paragraph in the midst of another article. I really debated posting this, but I am trying to keep track of these things…feel free to just skip on by this one.
