[Boing Boing just pointed to][bb] an [LA Weekly story][law] by Paul Krassner detailing the source of the infamous image, which dates back to 1966 and was drawn by Mad Magazine illustrator Wally Wood.

  1. It should just be the quote marks in copied text — one of the side effects of copying and pasting “curly quotes”. I’ll muck around with the settings in my posting program to see if I can’t get that fixed.
